Welcome to the Inner Wheel Australia Website |
||||
The Council meeting and Changeover weekend is now just a distant but very happy memory. So many members and friends enjoyed the “Chi Fandango Dinner” at the East Ocean Restaurant in Chinatown. It was wonderful that PP Pam, Henny, Kevin and Larry arrived in time, despite the volcanic dust cloud, and were able to have fun and relax. Two hundred and thirty five guests from all over Australia enjoyed the Harbour Cruise Changeover on board the Bella Vista - great company, great food, and music that got many of us onto the dance floor. A clear sparkling Sydney night enhanced the occasion. It is a great honour to be your President. I have received so many cards and letters of congratulations and support, for which I thank you all. I know it will be a busy year but one I will enjoy. With the Annual Conference looming as the next big agenda item, I would encourage you all to register, ‘go west’ and enjoy all that Perth has to offer. The Committee have a super conference planned, lots to do and see. All the information you need is on the website. Also think about Istanbul. The International Inner Wheel website is very user friendly and it’s possible to register on line. There is an all-inclusive registration. Lists of hotels and tours are available to see and experience in an exciting country - ancient and modern, European and Asian - a country of contrasts, interest and excitement. Flood Appeal funds were sent to the Districts most affected and were distributed to small businesses, some who were missing out on charitable funds and government help. There are still many people who are struggling, waiting for badly damaged homes to be repaired. The funds have been much appreciated and have gone a long way to help many families. Many have benefited from the generous support of our members and hopefully made life a little easier. New Zealand Earthquake appeal update – Donations have been made to many schools and children’s homes, health services, Canterbury Hospital and Women’s Refuge and St Johns. There were 24 Christchurch based Inner Wheel members who were greatly affected by the earthquakes and were assisted with gift cards. Inner Wheel Club members from Fiji, Noumea, Kuala Lumpur, United Kingdom and, of course, Australia have opened their hearts. The people of Christchurch appreciate the generosity and support of so many. Let’s all “THINK AHEAD – AIM HIGH” making it another memorable Inner Wheel Year.
