The wonderful CD "We love our Inner Wheel" was launched at the Gold Coast Conference in 2004 as a way of raising funds for Inner Wheel Australia's National Cord Blood Research Project.

A53 Past District Chairman, Laurel Peel, said "This was a bit of fun that got out of hand - way out of hand!"

When Past District Chairman, Robyn White, became IWA President, it was suggested that district members may like to do "something" at the national conference in Orange, NSW. As no one could sing or play music, but everyone knew their right foot from their left, it was decided that they might be able to dance!

A great friend taught them a simple dance to the song "We Love a Rainy Night", and the son of the District Historian, Peter Houghton Jnr, rewrote the song which became "We Love our Inner Wheel".

"The A53 Almost In Line Dancers" had great fun preparing and practising the dance. It was such a success at the Conference that a number of people asked for copies of the song. The question then arose, "How difficult would it be to have an Inner Wheel CD produced?"

Peter Houghton had his own band and, as an up and coming producer, accepted the challenge. After permission was obtained to use the music of "We Love a Rainy Night" by Eddy Rabbit, and paying royalties, the ball was rolling! Some generous sponsors covered the cost of production and, apart from GST, every cent raised goes to the National Cord Blood Research Project.

Included on the CD is -

the Inner Wheel Collect and a little bit of its history, spoken by International Inner Wheel Past President Lovise Richardson

a karaoke version for a sing along

the music of "Advance Australia Fair"

Some information about the National Project appears on the inside cover.

Each club may like to have their own copy. Copies could also be sent to sister clubs and contacts overseas - a great way to raise funds for Cord Blood Research and to promote international understanding.

Copies are available for $10 plus postage, and may be ordered from PDC Laurel Peel
