The Alfred Hospital Burns and Trauma Unit, Melbourne
recognises donation by Inner Wheel Australia members
to the 2010 Black Saturday Bush Fires

and Vice Chairman, Jan Malden.
The words "Members of Inner Wheel Australia" can be seen just above Gwen and Michelle's heads.

On Friday 16 March, District A60 Secretary, Gwen Barrett and Council Member, Gwen Rankins together with A61 Past Council Member, Michelle Post and Vice Chairman, Jan Malden attended a function at the Alfred Hospital Burns and Trauma Unit in Melbourne.

The occasion was in recognition of Inner Wheel Australia's donation following the 2010 Black Saturday bush fires.

Following a distribution of Inner Wheel Australia Appeal funds to Districts, A60 and A61 combined to donate a total of $24 000 to The Alfred Burns Unit, where the victims were treated after the disastrous fires decimated the state of Victoria.  The words, “Members of Inner Wheel Australia”, on the Major Donors' Honour Board, combine the two Districts, as well as all members throughout Australia who supported the Appeal.

The Alfred Foundation staff, including Miss Heather Cleland, Chief Surgeon, addressed us and a tour of the new, completely refitted Unit was given, showing us how well our donation was appreciated.  The group of major donors represented at this function certainly found closure to the support given over two years ago in 2010.
