The Inner Wheel Club of Boonah, Queensland, was officially Chartered by A77 Inner Wheel District Chairman Valerie Goodsall during a formal dinner on Saturday 22 May 2010. Program Director Lesley Johnston chaired a wonderful evening which was enjoyed by all.

Despite coinciding with the Charter of the Inner Wheel Club of Warrnambool, it was delightful to have 20 Clubs and 120 guests in attendance to celebrate the Charter.

Special guests included A77 District Chairman Valerie Goodsall, International Inner Wheel Board Director Liz Ralston, Inner Wheel Australia Vice President Pam Watkins, and A77 Inner Wheel District Extension Chairman Margaret Whitchurch.

Also attending were a number of members from the sponsor club, the Inner Wheel Club of Ipswich, including two Charter Members of this Club, which was chartered 30 years ago in 1980. Their continuing support will be very important to the new club and very much appreciated.

Rotarians enjoying themselves at the Charter Dinner

Inaugural President Zelma Hanley was definitely, and deservedly, the star of the evening. Without Zelma at the helm, the Inner Wheel Club of Boonah would not have been born. The President of the Rotary Club of Boonah presented Zelma with her Collar and Jewel.

In addition to the formalities and some wonderful greetings and toasts, highlights of the evening included a warm and friendly welcome from Mayor John Brent of the Scenic Rim Regional Council, and entertainment by a local young, talented singer, song writer and guitarist, Bernadette Carson. Gifts of candles, brief cases, note paper, photo albums, and donations were gratefully received and will certainly be used.

The celebration cake was beautifully decorated by Maree, daughter-in-law of A77 Inner Wheel District Extension Chairman Margaret Whitchurch.

International Inner Wheel Board Director Liz Ralston, Club Executives Sandra Cormack,
Zelma Hanley  and Thyrlene Davin, Inner Wheel Australia Vice President Pam Watkins and
A77 Inner Wheel District ChairmanValerie Goodsall cut the celebratory cake.

The Inner Wheel Club of Boonah would like to thank both those who attended the Charter Dinner and those who sent their very best wishes for the club's future success.
